Some of us can pinpoint the moment, the person, or the thing that made us want to be a makeup artist. Mine was watching my mom put on her lipstick every morning. The way that she could make her lips look so full, and the stunning shade of crimson that she was hardly ever seen without, always held a certain fascination for me.
We all have these sources of inspiration, and not just when it comes to makeup. The people that we admire, the people who had taken time to help mold us, and even the people that we hate, have in some way shaped us into the people that we are today.
So I have decided that in order to push myself as an artist, and also to pay homage to those that have come before me, those that are still here with me, and to the endless possibilities for future inspiration, I am going to start an inspiration series where I am going to recreate looks that have stood out to me in some way. They may have strutted down the runway, they may grace an editorial in a magazine, they may be on television or in a music video, or they may come from the setting I find myself in. Sometimes these looks will be on myself, sometimes they will be on a client or a friend. Either way, I am very excited for where this is going to take me, and I thank everyone who is reading this for being a part of this journey.
So without further ado, I give you my first recreation: The look that went down the runway for the Creatures of the Wind SS2016 Fashion Show, created by Aaron de Mey for NARS.
Ellis Faas Skin Veil - Shade S102
Gucci Luminous Perfecting Concealer - Shade 20
